HERE is an entire site showcasing Francisco De Goya y Lucientes work. My two favorite paintings of his would have to be "The Duchess Of Alba" this painting is buy bonita!
"The Straw Manikin" is wee bit tonto, though i have to say being tossed into the air by a sheet would be loads of fun in my opinion! Despite it's oddness i do love the look on the man's face being tossed in the air..lol.
Francisco De Goya was a court painter to the Spanish Crown. He was born in Fuendetodos, Aragón, Spain, in 1746. In 1783, the Count of Floridablanca, a favorite of King Carlos III, commissioned Goya to paint his portrait. In 1789 Goya was made court painter to Charles IV and in 1799 he was appointed First Court Painter!

El Carnaval del Pais is a holiday much like mardi-gras. Except they have Samba clubs with over 700 dancers, musicians and singers, all competing for the title of "Kings of the Carnival". This takes place in the spring time around march or april!
Revolucion de Mayo is celebrated May 25th and celebrates Argentinas independence from Spain! I think Dia de la Raza is by far my favorite! They celebrate not that Christopher Columbus FOUND america, but that he entered the race to! So we defiantly celebrate the same columbus day holiday, but in a completely different manner!
Teiene miedo norteamericano no? I would have been!!!
We have began our introduction into chapter four and i have started to learn sports and activities. In spirit of this i would like to say :
Mi hermano y padre gustan el futbol americano.
Mi no gusta deportes!

I remember learning about De Goya in a humanities class once. I love learning about art and how it differs in different eras and countries.
ReplyDeleteHis work is definitely different than anything else I've ever seen. It inspired me to really think about what he was trying to convey. Thanks for introducing me to anew artist!
