Well, this will be my last blog post! I can't believe it..
I will leave you with the most bizzare story you have ever heard (i'm certain).
I tried to find this article on CNN MEXICO but couldn't seem to locate anything so here is the article in englis CLICK HERE .
I will try to write this in spanish.
“There was no snag, I backed my claim legally, I am not stupid, I know the law. I did it but anyone else could have done it, it simply occurred to me first."
She says that according to the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 she can legally take ownership of the sun. Oh it gets better..
She now wants to charge everyone in the world for using "her sun".
The money would go to her country of Spain, world hunger, oh yea HERSELF, and research.
AHAHAHAHAHA!! The day i pay some woman from Spain money for using "her sun" is the day a sprout wings and a horn and fly around like a unicorn. It's not going to happen lady..let it go. Your not clever. Your an idiot.
In other news..
While we stay warm and toasty here in the deep south, Europe has been attacked by Snow, Ice, and dangerously low temperatures.
CLICK HERE to read the story on CNN MEXICO.
In case you didn't catch that, it was 18 degrees below zero..this sets a record for this area."que el año pasado tuvo su invierno más frío en 30 años". A record of 30 years!! That IS a historic climatic moment.
So imagine 18 degrees here in the plains..then take that down to zero. Then subtract 18 more degrees.
MUY FRIO!!! Yo llevar el sueter! infact..i would just strap a space heater to my back and call it good.
It's been absolutely fabulous folks! Thanks for reading this blog and Goodluck on the Final!!

Oh Brad..where art thou?
Okay so as i was flipping through articles for this post i ran across one about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who are apparently out in public..promoting a film! Which never happens anymore, because Angelina has Brad in a cage in the mountains somewhere at all times, but nonetheless..CLICK HERE to read the article on CNN MEXICO.
“Angelina es una mujer muy hermosa en persona. Fue amigable y habló conmigo. Brad [dice una mujer de la tripulación, suspirando] es muy, muy amable y muy extrovertido. Jugó mucho con sus hijos".
Of course Angelina is muy hermosa! Im nearly certain she will be the most beautiful 85 year old to ever exist, and they go on to say that Brad is super nice, and plays alot with the kiddos..which is what everyone says. BECAUSE HE IS PERFECT. lol..
"también llevaron a sus hijas Zahara y Shiloh de compras el sábado."
So after some time spent with the boys, they took their girls shopping on saturday. I really don't see how this is news because they are millionares..OF COURSE they go shopping..they could buy the entire store!
In other entertainment news Madonna's gym in Mexico opened, you know that gym that only super rich people can go to. It's in one of the most expensive parts of town in the city. CLICK HERE to watch a video and read an article on it via CNN MEXICO
So they will be offering classes with latin moves, cardio, kick boxing and a sort of treadmill cycling kind of room. Sounds like a typical gym to me with a new name "Hard Candy" or a.k.a. "Impossible to join without lots of money"

Okay, so apparently with Scarlet Johansson turning alien and Bill Clinton starring in the Hang Over 2. I have officially lost all faith in movies. CLICK HERE to read the article in Espanol On CNN Mexico.
Mike Tyson was in the first Hangover, and will now be followed by Bill Clinton. Never thought i would say those two names in the same sentence.
Mel Gibson had been offered a role in the film, but after a protest it was given to Liam Nesson.
también es protagonizada porBradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis y Justin Bartha.
I love all of these guys! Looking forward to the movie!! Yo miro pelicula de Hang Over hasta pronto!!
In Triste News~

Scarlett Johansson a extraterrestre???
I couldn't pass up blogging about this. If you think the title reads Scarlet Johannson is an alien. No need to read it again, that's exactly where this tren is headed!!
CLICK HERE to read in espanol about Mrs. Johansson's new role.
The article discusses Scarlett's role in the upcoming movie "Under the Skin".
"un drama de ciencia ficción donde ella personifica a una sexy alien que llega a la tierra y hace uso de sus artimañas femeninas para atrapar a sus víctimas."
It's a fictional drama where our lovely scarlett plays the role of a sexy alien who comes to earth and uses her seductress ways to trap her vicitims.
Okay i need a second.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
It get's better though, apparently at some point she loves our planet and lifestyle so much that she becomes conflicted about what she came to earth to do.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
This is going to be SO malo, and i can't wait to see this disaster!
In other equally alien and freaky news Madonna has gone to mexico!
CLICK HERE to read the article regarding the fitness program Madonna is making!
"Madonna estará en México el 29 de noviembre para inaugurar el primer Hard Candy Fitness del país."
The first “Hard Candy Fitness Center,” named after her 2008 album, is in the fashionable Bosques de las Lomas area of Mexico City, and she will be there for it's premier launch the 29th of november!
The problem with these fitness centers is that they are quite luxerious, the area in Mexico City where it will be located is not for people of meager means..so getting into a club like this, is an exclusive thing. SO MUCH FOR PROMOTING HEALTH AND FITNESS. -.- ugh..
Okay enough freaky news for you!
Hasta Manana clase!

El Papa Benedicto XVI viaja a Espana!
Pop benedicto visited spain this past week (sies de noviembre)CLICK HERE to view a video on CNN espanol about his visit to the country!
In the video did you see Pope Benedicto's de carro?? It's bullet proof! but he sits on a chair inside the car and you are able to see him wave and ride through the crowd.
Triste times when we need bullet proof cars to visit countries..
The pope dedicated the Sagrada Familia church, and had this to say to the rising secularism in Spain and around the world.
"I consider that the dedication of this church of the Sagrada Familia is an event of great importance, at a time in which man claims to be able to build his life without God, as if God had nothing to say to him."
Pope esta muy enojado no?
If you think hes mad about secularism..el Papa defiende el matrimonio heterosexual y la religión. CLICK HERE to read in spanish the popes thoughts on homosexuality.
I know that this shouldn't be an outlet for me to vent on things as controversial as this, but im going to anyways. Lo siento if i offend any of those who share Pope Benedicts views..but If you don't support gay marriage, then don't marry a gay person.
Thats all.
We have been studying estar and emotions this past week! I can say that:
Yo estoy muy nerviosa por el examen!
Yo espero No muy dificil!!!

Películas y videojuegos violentos
The great debate over videogames rages on in THIS article on CNN, which asks the age old question :"Does playing violent video games make adolescents aggressive?"
So science is saying that the violent video games DO have an effect on young kiddos, that stirs up hostile emotions and responses, but then i have to play devil's advocate and say~ Sus madre y padre no comprar el violento videogame!
Donde los adolescents seguimos denero??
Children don't make money, so they are getting the cash from somewhere..
The parent's have to monitar what video games the children are playing, and purchasing much like they should monitar the movies they watch.
There are products, including video games, that are on the market for adults, and that shouldn't be bought are played by children.
"los pediatras recomiendan no más de dos horas de tiempo frente a la pantalla por día,...."
everything should be done in moderation~ including gaming, as well as other recreational activities.
Also i found this amazing wikipedia page on the architecture of mexico! CLICK HERE to see it. My favorite by far is the picture of the Cathedral in Mexico City.
check it out HERE
You can't get amazing architecture like this in the U.S. folks!
I wish all churches were built with this much detail~
In celebration of Chapter 5 let me say:
Mi la habitacion esta sucia.
Mi va a limpio!
Hasta Luego Clase!

el otono de una separacion!
This week in chapter five we are going over months and days! So in light of this let me announce todays date! Es el segundo de noviembre. Noviembre belongs to the season of el otono!
Also belonging to el otono is the season of divorciandos y separaciones!
I found the latest on Courtney Cox and her husband David Arquette via CNN espanol!
CLICK HERE to read the article!
"La actriz Courteney Cox habló por primera vez sobre su separación con su esposo David Arquette.." The article goes on to confirm that Courtney has claimed she is not divorcing David, but they are just going to "seperate" for a bit as sort of a moment of reflection on the needs of the marriage.
"No sé qué pasará, pero no es como si nos estuviéramos divorciando", dice Cox en una nueva entrevista con Tv Week. "Esto es una separación y yo creo que implica mucho valor… Lo que deba pasar será lo mejor para nosotros".
Also in light of the months i found this article describing violence in Chihuahua, Mexico. The numbers are chilling~ The amount of murders they have in one month, despite the beauty of the place, makes me wanna run the other direction!Click HERE to read the article.
"Según los datos de la Fiscalía del Estado de Chihuahua, en enero de este año se registraron 227 asesinatos, 163 en febrero, 240 en marzo, 203 en abril, 262 en mayo, 313 en junio, 291 en julio, 338 en agosto, 289 en septiembre y 350 al 31 de octubre."

CLICK HERE to read the article about California's proposition 19. Apparently the ex Mexican president Vicente Fox is in favor of the legalization, but with limitations and regulations.
"49% de los californianos están a favor de la Propuesta 19, mientras que el 42% está en contra."
So it seems..as of right now that the line of those in favor, and those who are not, is very thin~ or delgado! ha! Wow..i know quite a few espanol Palabras!

El Museo El Modo!
El Museo el modo es en Mexico. It showcases old "objects" including old medicines and cures as well as other objects like typewriters, hair accessories ect.. from 1800's and on~ they exhibit thousands of objects!
So awesome that i was actually able to read this sentence!!
"Tiene un horario de miércoles a domingo 10 a 18 hrs, con un costo de admisión de 40 pesos al público en general, 30 pesos a estudiantes..."
So apparently they are open from wednesday - sunday for 10 to 18 hours?? hmm military time im guessing? or craziness..and the cost of admission is 40 pesos for the general public and 30 pesos for students!
Here is an article on the museum! CLICK HERE
Cnn also covered the museo to see that video and try to keep up with all the spanish talk (listened to this like 50 times and still couldn't pick up alot of the words) CLICK HERE
I love the old medicine containers!! The little cold cream canister's are so cute! It makes me want to start collecting containers now..but today's containers are nothing but plastic..they don't really come in cool tins, glass containers..ect..so they don't appeal to me as much~
I tried to find something like this museum in the unites states but i didn't come up with anything :( so i guess i just have to go to Mexico!!
This article and story is really neat since we just went over places and how to describe them in class last week.

Cinco De Mayo! and Fashion!
Before taking Spanish i think my favorite thing about Cinco de Mayo was the drinking. Now i can say i know what Cinco de Mayo is all about!!It celebrates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862! CLICK HERE to read all about Cinco de Mayo! Click HERE for a video showcasing this year's Cinco de Mayo in San Jose California! That guy is amazing with that lasso!!
I did a post not too long ago that included a video of a young girl dressed in traditional mexican clothing. I was so impressed an in awe of her clothes that i figured i would do a posting just about traditional mexican clothing!
Traditional Mexican clothing combines native and European styles, and most commonly are made from cotton, bark, wool, silk, and agave. Women wear a skirt, a “huipil” , and a “quechquémitl” a kind of cape, and a shawl called a “rebozo”!
The men stick closely to the european style of clothes with trousers and a shirt, but can add a large blanket called “Sarape”. CLICK HERE to learn more!
HERE are some pictures of traditional mexican dress!
Oh! and for your listening pleasure, HERE is a most fabulous song called "Mucha Muchacha" I love this song!!
Okay thats all for today!
This week we are learning about the present tense of "Ir" verbs so in the spirit of that:
Yo voy a la escuela manana! Hasta Luego!

President Felipe Calderon is combating the Flu this season!
Mexico has inaugurated a US$140 million lab to manufacture influenza vaccines, a year after they received all the negative press for the swine flu. President Felipe Calderon says he's trying to make Mexico better prepared for the flu season. The manufacturing plant will produce 30 million doses of antigen, the key vaccine ingredient, annually! I think this could be the solution Mexico needs to prevent an H1N1 event from happening again. The H1N1 caused 17,800 deaths in more than 200 countries. CLICK HERE to read the article.
I also found this incredibly sad news story about an American Tourist who is missing after he and his wife went to visit a historic Mexican church and were shot at my mexican pirates! I am always shocked when i hear about pirates. Im not sure why, but i always think they are make believe until i hear about them doing something terrible! The man fled after the pirates open fired, and he has been missing ever since.
Oh! and for your listening pleasure here is a top ten list of the best mexican music EVER!! found courtesy of youtube! CLICK HERE! I talked in my last blog entry about traditional spanish fashions. You can see some great examples of the sort of "pants and shirt" traditional fashions in the pictures of the various male hispanic artists during the video! I also noticed that they have alot of "group" artists with SEVERAL several members!
Vamos a bailar!!

Francisco De Goya an awesome Spanish Artist.
HERE is an entire site showcasing Francisco De Goya y Lucientes work. My two favorite paintings of his would have to be "The Duchess Of Alba" this painting is buy bonita!
"The Straw Manikin" is wee bit tonto, though i have to say being tossed into the air by a sheet would be loads of fun in my opinion! Despite it's oddness i do love the look on the man's face being tossed in the air..lol.
Francisco De Goya was a court painter to the Spanish Crown. He was born in Fuendetodos, Aragón, Spain, in 1746. In 1783, the Count of Floridablanca, a favorite of King Carlos III, commissioned Goya to paint his portrait. In 1789 Goya was made court painter to Charles IV and in 1799 he was appointed First Court Painter!
CLICK HERE to see a site showcasing Argentinan traditions!
El Carnaval del Pais is a holiday much like mardi-gras. Except they have Samba clubs with over 700 dancers, musicians and singers, all competing for the title of "Kings of the Carnival". This takes place in the spring time around march or april!
Revolucion de Mayo is celebrated May 25th and celebrates Argentinas independence from Spain! I think Dia de la Raza is by far my favorite! They celebrate not that Christopher Columbus FOUND america, but that he entered the race to! So we defiantly celebrate the same columbus day holiday, but in a completely different manner!
Teiene miedo norteamericano no? I would have been!!!
We have began our introduction into chapter four and i have started to learn sports and activities. In spirit of this i would like to say :
Mi hermano y padre gustan el futbol americano.
Mi no gusta deportes!

R.I.P El perro.

Ironic that we have the word El perro the week i lose mine :(
No bueno dia.
No bueno la semana..
Mi perro was killed jueves by a carro.
I suppose i don't have much to say about anything today but i will include a spanish link and such..and well, call it good. I haven't been able to do much this weekend, except cry alot..so you will have to excuse this short blog entry. I don't have any children so my dog was like my kiddo. Here is the Spanish Link for this week. It's showcasing what is supposed to be the best place in Mexico "CHIHUAHUA" . After watching that Youtube video, i would definitely love to pack my bags and head that way!!It has been said that the name derives from the Tarahumara language, meaning "between two waters", other accepted definitions are "place of the holed-rock" or "dry and sandy place". Despite it's beauty the city has a serious crime problem including theft, and nasty case of graffiti taggers! You can't combat it's true beauty though Click HERE to see some picture of Chihuahua Mexico!
Well, I would just like to say that my Dog "Trey" was the best dog in the world, and so here's to the best dog that ever lived~ May he rest in peace <3

The Aztec Familia!

HERE i found some interesting facts about the old Aztec families!
Wayyy back in the Aztec days~
Marriage was considered a family affair. The bride and groom did not have any say in the selection process, and the parents would normally consult a fortuneteller, who could, based on birth dates (horoscopes maybe?), predict the future of the marriage. Normally, a pair of older women, called "cihuatlanque" would negotiate between the families.
The tradition called then for a meeting of the girl's family to assess the proposal and obtain permission of ALL the family members.
LOL would tu ENTIRE familia have agreed on your current marriage or relationship?
They would have taken one look at your novio and said NO.
Oh yea..and there was that whole "several" wives thing! So perhaps the Aztec days would not have been for you ;)

I could eat Mexican food every day!

Hola!
The hubby and myself are about to order some Mexican food, so in the spirit of the moment i thought today's blog should be about Mexican food!
Breakfast is called "desayuno" and it's served between 7AM - 10AM.
Lunch is called "comida" and is served between 1:30 - 4PM.
Dinner is called "cena" and is served between 8 - 9PM.
Here's an interesting fact! When eating in a Mexican home you should always arrive late (about half an hour)and bring some wine or flowers.
The women never toast, only the men!! So you ladies better zip it and put those glasses down. Here is a LINK to showcase these awesome facts, plus links to TONS of mexican food recipes!
I also ran into THIS painting depicting "Sloppy Jose" 's restaurant. That my friends, is an awesome name..
I think Sloppy Jose and Sloppy Joe should arm wrestle.
Happy Concina!
Buenos Tardes clase!

AHAHAHA education for the win!

True story folks.
Im standing in line at a concession stand at the fair when a hispanic lady infront of me starts trying to ask the concession worker a question.
He keeps saying "What?" and she looks back at the line and sighs heavily and asks again.
I can make out the word "Cuanto" and "Seite", and notice shes pointing to the sign.
I tap her on the shoulder and ask weirdly "Cauntos Seite Turkey?" since i can't figure out how to properly ask..*smacks forhead*

She nodded and looked back at the worker, so i asked for her "How many coins for seven turkey legs?"
He said 21
So i looked at her and said "Veintiuno senora"
she counted out the change and then smiled at me and patted my arm.
It was totally weird, but completely awesome that i just translated something.
My husband died laughing and i was left feeling super cool the rest of the night.
:)
Okay now back to business~
Here's today's most spectacular LINK! It's a site featuring the best places to visit while in mexico! Since some of you may be going with our instructor down there for 6 weeks i figured you should have some kind of idea of where you really super duper wanna go! I personally have always wanted to party in Cabo San Lucas during spring break.

I am not Spain.

Okay.
Soooo leccion of the day is "When you think you have done muy bein on a Espanol test (el examen), perhaps you should proof check it, dos."
Apparently i was convinced that you had become Spain, and therefor crafted the sentence "Tu eres Espana".
oops.
CORRECTION: " Tu eres de Espana".
We are learning about all things "classroom" so i have decided for this post i will tell a most awesome story using the spanish words i am to learn.
Once upon a time...
In a la biblioteca far far away..
A la companero a de clase went missing from the study groupo. A massive frenzy broke out and search parties were sent to four departments: La biologia, las ciencias, la musica, and la fisica. One super smart estudiente decided to check the missing estudiente's el horario to see where the estudiente might be.
What the estudiente found was that the missing estudiente was to be in la administracion de empresas clase. Long story short they went there and found the estudiente working on la tarea and completely oblivious to the chaos they had just caused.
He was sentenced to death.
Just kidding, everyone just went back to clase.
The end.
I should write children's books...
The awesome spanish link of the day is HERE and is about the Day of the Dead!!
It's by far one of my most favorite holidays because besides being a noob in terms of all things spanish i LOVE the day of the dead dolls and had one brought to me from Mexico by a friend :) It's one of my most favorite trinkets, and i love the idea of CELEBRATING life, by celebrating those who have passed! HERE is an awesome site that sells some of these dolls!
Thanks for reading! Nos Vemos!

Ines Sainz vs. The Jets

Ines Sainz a sports reporter with Mexico's TV Azteca, has claimed to have experienced sexual harrassment and the NFL is taking the claim to "serious town" where the "super serious sheriff" is asking lots of questions.
Here is a LINK to the story . So apparently she was in a locker room filled with men, and while wearing skin tight clothes (seriously folks she could have burst out of the fabric at any time) received some very suggestive comments from the football players.
If this woman had not made a living off of showing all her momma gave her i would feel sorry for her experience, but i can't..because you make your living off of your looks.
Lo siento Ines, but i see it like i see the paps and movie stars. You make millions of dollars because your constantly being advertised and exposed to us small folk in magazines, ect..which in turn gives you movie roles. Then you cry "NOT FAIR!" when the paps follow you around, but if they didn't you wouldn't have a job. Now i don't condone extreme picture taking (running you off the road, endangering your children ect..)but everything else is hazards of dirty filthy wealthy fame. So Ines gets her publicity off of being an attractive female sports caster.
If your that sensitive to lude comments, don't take lude pictures. The fact is, she's not too sensitive because those lude opinions of her put money in her pocket and keep her paychecks nice and steady! Sorry folks, but thats how i roll.
The comments directed at Ines might have caused her some discomfort, but also has shot her to fame in the states by her interviews on numerous american televison shows like "Good Morning America".
The Jets players on the other hand..have some splainin' to do.
Could this change locker room behavior as we know it??

Dinosaurs.

I haven't been able to discuss dinosaurs since the second grade, so i consider this moment freaking fantastic. There was a dinosaur un-earthed in Spain! Click HERE to read all about it. They named him "Pepito" which is sad, because he's a hardcore dinosaur and you just gave him the wimpiest dinosaur name EVER.
This particular style of "hunchback" has not ever been seen so he's the first of his kind! A really cool find for the country of Spain!
We have been learning about telling time in our Spanish class and i have to say that i find there way of telling time super logical, but was initially kinda challanging for me. I feel like i should be carrying a tin lunchbox and a dora the explora backpack lol. So for your reading pleasure i am about to tell you the time.
I happen to stumble across a really fantastic youtube spanish instructor! Some of the videos on web-sam can be short and not fill in some gaps... He also hosts videos for more advanced learners as well! Here is the LINK to his youtube page!

Spain..how much would THAT cost?
Way to much. Walk away. It's okay.
On a happy note Joaquín Sorolla’s “Vision of Spain” HERE is a la pintura that i wouldn't mind putting in my casa.
In spanish "Esta pintura es muy bonita!"
When i think of Spain, what i see in this painting is the first thing that comes into my mind. Amazingly beautiful women adorned with flowers and bright colored dresses dancing all the time.
Spanish dancing is just fantastic to watch. So here is a muy bien LINK to a traditional Spanish dance. Seriously? Who knew dancing in the dirt could create such an effect!
The intensity of the dance is somewhat mimicked in the hairstyle as well, that tight formal bun with the little curled piece of hair next to the ear just makes me think "serious", or in this case..
"seriously awesome".
I suppose the first thing i have learned interesting about the Spanish language would be that it is not as hard as i had built it up to be in my head. While it's going to take some work to get used to, some of the diction makes more sense then English. The confusion of "Ph" is taken out of the word Photo and replaced with something much more practical like "Foto". Simple is good.
Hasta Manana and Buenos noches!
